What's on your wish list?

My favorite breed are the Sussex, as well. 🙂
My wish list is bantam Speckled Sussex. Never raised them, but would hope their friendliness and all around good traits would be the same as the Sussex LF.
My bantam Sussexes have made excellent mothers and are all round nice members of the flock. They don't bully or get bullied. Seem to cope with heat and cold fine. They are bigger compared to my other bantams and the others like snuggling them at night in winter for the warmth!

So we got our Turkens, an Egyptian Fayoumi (please be a pullet!), Sicilian Buttercups, Sumatras, Lavender Orps, two Gold Laced Wyandottes, Speckled Sussexes, Brahmas (found some today at TSC!) and Sumatras all checked off our list from my first post. :wee

We even got some Blue Jersey Giants while we were there, but two almost looked white, but with a very soft blue fade on their heads and a little on their backs. Maybe mislabeled White Jersey Giants? Or mislabeled something else, but they looked identical otherwise to the blue ones. 🤔

New list! (That will be in progress AFTER we build another coop 🤣 Which we already blueprinted...)
- Mottled anythings!
- Swedish Flower Hens (spots AND crests? Be still my beating heart! We've got two eggs in the incubator but it's our first ever hatch attempt so I'm not sure we'll get any to hatch!)
- Jubilee Orpingtons
- Any speckled egg layers (we may have one, or some! But only time will tell)
- Other Brahma colors!
- Splash Laced Wyandottes

Our “maybe maybe not Blue” Jersey Giant! Please ignore the dust! 😂 We clean it too often to look like that but here we are. 🙄😂

I’ll take pics of the others probably tomorrow. 😂 Cookout now!

Lovely - will be great to see how they grow out esp those Turkens!!
We’ve got one that’s black, one that’s black with warm dark brown undertones, two chipmunk-y ones like this, and one that’s more of a standard buff-y color. I’m so excited! I was not expecting that much variety in the colors. I was really hoping for some patterning and Cackle definitely delivered. 🤭

I’m really interested to see how the Jersey Giants end up too! So curious.

Jersey Giants are awesome birds! We have 4 BJG and 2 Blue JG! Very friendly birds!

Bantam cochins started out as my favorite and 35 years later still are. Getting the colors I want is much, much more difficult. I have buff hens, but can't seem to keep a buff cock. I have not had good luck with my lavender or splash either. I finally gave up on bobtail after several dozen eggs and a few birds from a breeder that was not honest about ages of birds I bought. I have been successful with Mottled, black and blue and white, but my last white just passed (she is my profile pic, Angel. passed at almost 10 years).
I love them because they are calm, pretty quiet, friendly, great mamas/broodies, and often share the eggs and babies. I lost my splash hen to a raccoon the day after she hatched 10 eggs. I couldn't find her nest until I heard the peeping. By then it was too late. A calico hen heard the babies and came over with her own 7 babies. She immediately claimed the splashes 10 and raised them all.
I have spent most of my time helping my daughter with her Belgian quail d'Anvers and Seramas as she shows them. She has one more year before college and I will try again with my cochins to fill the void of missing her.
