What breed is this beautiful rooster?

If he's anything like my BJ, you won't find a sweeter, more gentle roo.

Nah he should be fine.

If he appears to try to be aggressive, do like my husband did with our last rooster (Red Sexlink roo) Chase after him like a crazy person everytime you go outside. Wave your arms around, yelling at the top of you lungs. Fudge never tried anything with any of us after that, lol

LOL Good idea! So far he has been very sweet.

Excuse me ?
I said that this bird was not a pure bred bird, not that some one droped them because they were worthless as a fighting cock.
Game birds do not necessarilly HAVE to be a fighting cock. Wild game hens are often put in the same catagory as the red jungles, the carribeans and the hawians.

They are wild birds, original species that many chicken breeds come from, thus they are put into a catagory as "game birds". not because they are hunted, fought or used for food, simply because the org species is wild.

Your thoughts that this is an american game bird is correct. I probably mis spoken/typed.

I most likely should just be quiet and let this pass, but you all decided to "correct" me, so i am just defending my words.

I am guessing that american games come from the wild chickens anyhow.

If you look up the hatcheries that have jungle fowl chicks, you will see MY bird.

Here is pic from Cackle hatchery (here in Missouri, which i have visited).

Actually I think they come from England. Caught a ride on the Mayflower and such. Forgive me if I'm wrong but that's what I heard.

These birds are used for fighting, but this guy doesn't look like he's been faught. Most are bare chested.

Kenny. his Dad Rudy, Brother Freddy are all nice friendly birds. Don't get me wrong, they defend their hens but don't attack anyone. They are beautiful birds.I don't know how people can make them do those things. Yeah I do. money

Here's BJ....this is a fellow you can hug, do anything to that needs doing, and he'll politely let you (although he'd rather be doing something else!). And yet he is ever vigilant in the care of his lady friend and will refuse even his favorite foods if she makes that compelling little sound
hens have perfected, in which case he feeds her (I have to make a special effort to ensure he gets plenty of everything too because he would give it all up to be gallant). p.s. It took time for us to establish such a trusting bond but it was very worth it.
I could post a million pics

. He's also the one in my avatar. Some 9 years ago he and another roo that was clearly of the same type appeared on my property and they were inseparable best friends. Johnny was so sweet and protective of BJ. Sadly, Johnny died some years ago, BJ literally wanted to die without him (stopped eating, drinking, moving), and that's when I got him a lady friend, at which point he kicked into gear to care for her.
I've never quite known what type of roo BJ is.

Sorry if I sounded offending. I was just trying to say what I see gamebirds as. There are plenty of wild birds, so to me Junglefowl are just "wild birds". Same with the Key West birds, hawaiian, Guam, etc. I do not call them game, even though they came from games mixed with other birds and have the game look sometimes because the word game (this is just my opinion.. based upon what the word "Game" means in the dictionary)

Definition 1: wild animals, including birds and fishes, such as are hunted for food or taken for sport or profit.
Definition 2:having a fighting spirit; plucky. (Many gamefowl owners further this by- Having the will or desire to fight until death, and I think I've seen that in the dictionary too. And that is why I tell people wanting to breed games, if they don't have the desire to fight then cull them. You don't have to fight them, not encouraging that before anyone thinks it.. I just believe it is a key to preserving the breed and without it they do not have the personalities that come with that and makes them one of the most popular breeds..)

I guess the green junglefowl could be a gamebird because they are sometimes killed for their feathers (or could be gray's?) but most usually aren't used like either of those definitions. So to me, they are just wild birds.. Not meaning to sound like a know-it-all at all.. I just wanted to further explain what I meant, everyone does have their own opinion so you can take it for what you want. Most Junglefowls in the US aren't pure, if they were they would fall over dead just about anytime someone they didn't recognize walked up to their pen from what I've heard from people who have seen/heard of the real ones.
