What breed is this Big Girl?

    My daughter brought me two chicks from TSC back in March, and didn't ask what kind they were. Apparently they were the last two chicks they had and she was trying to surprise me -- she did! Lol. So these two girls should be 17 weeks old and are now FAR bigger than all the others we bought that same week. Can someone tell me what kind they are? One has a very red comb compared to the other, but definitely does not look male. [​IMG]

    They look like Rhode Island Reds to me based on the brown feathers and the black tipped tail.

    Either that or New Hampshire Reds, which I think are lighter in color. :)

    After reading up on the two breeds you all suggested, I'm guessing the New Hampshire Red. I purchased Rhode Island Red chicks at the same time, and they are much darker and smaller (see pic). I read that New Hampshire Reds are dual purpose birds, and these "unidentified" chicks are very "big boned" girls... Thank you both for your help!
