Look at this beauty. Very loud though. This chick was sold to me as a pure Wyandotte, but the feathers on the feet tell me it must be some other breed or a mixed breed. Does it look familiar to anyone? We're keeping it anyway in our multi-breed flock. Just curious.

Is that a single comb?
Few things pointing to it not being a Wyandotte.
No real way of knowing but if it came from an individual I'd guess its just a mix breed.

I’m the Worst at this, but I don’t think Wyandottes have feathered feet. Some breeds to explore would be Marans, Cochin or Brahma. You may need to check back in a few weeks.

Yes, single comb for sure. The breeder was a "seasoned hobbyist" I'd say. I'm so curious about how this chick will look later on in life, but I suppose I'll just have to wait.

I not thinking Cochin, I see some brown smuttiness on the wing feathers coming in and it lacks the usual penguin-like chick down.
I was thinking the same plus if it was a cochin why wouldn't the breeder know that?
If they're breeding and selling pure birds you would think they would easily know a cochin from a wyandotte.

100% agree. It would be a very difficult mistake too make. Even at first glance, the chick down of both breeds would be very different

I can see 3 toes and they're all the wrong color for a Cochin. Wrong color combined with the fact I can clearly see bare toes, makes me say mixed breed. Probably a Cochin mix.
