Where from (which hatchery), sometimes this helps discern breeds.
Possibly brown Leghorn, Cream Legbar, Easter Egger or other..
What I can see.. chipmunk down, straight comb, clean legs.
I have the hardest time telling bearded on not when not side by side or not at the right angle.
Skin color may be seen on bottom of feet.. sometimes hard to tell at hatch.. will be either white or yellow, can help discern breed. (looks pretty white in the face but confirmation needed)
Also lobe color will become more apparent with some age.
Other straight combed breeds with clean legs and chipmunk down off the top of my head.. Bielefelder, Welsummer, Olive egger, speckled Sussex.
Cute baby!![]()
My hen hatched her. I have 2 roos a buckeye and a mix of some sort. Since all the eggs are from different hens I don't know which one. I have 3 wyandottes gold silver and splash, buckeye, RIR, ISA brown, golden comet, a blue rock, a partridge rock, black Australorp, another black hen with a little bit of feathers on her leg and possibly a black sex link I think a well summer and possibly a Easter egger she's blu with black head but lays light brown eggs.Where from (which hatchery), sometimes this helps discern breeds.

Well, clearly not pure for Buckey. Pattern rules out the likely-hood of it being RIR, GC, ISA, blue (alleged) Rock, BA, BSL.My hen hatched her. I have 2 roos a buckeye and a mix of some sort.
Roo is large straight comb with white gold brownish red with black and green tail yellow legs. A beautifully roo.Well, clearly not pure for Buckey. Pattern rules out the likely-hood of it being RIR, GC, ISA, blue (alleged) Rock, BA, BSL.
Am I correct about that being a straight comb or is an optical illusion from the angle? Straight comb is recessive to other comb types.. so takes a copy from each parent to remain straight. What comb type does your mix boy have?
Hatchery Wyandottes may not be homozygous (2 copies) for Rose comb so may still throw straight combs when bred to a straight combed bird or other heterozygous birds.
Long story short.. we're most likely talking about a barnyard or backyard cross and not a breed at all.. since Buckeye has been ruled out ..
My best current GUESS.. is one of your Wyandotte dames, the Welly or the EE (is she bearded, or is the baby can you tell) crossed to your mixed sire. What is his feather pattern? More pics welcome!![]()
Sounds like the most likely possible sire.. according to my current understanding and reasonable deduction.Roo is large straight comb with white gold brownish red with black and green tail yellow legs. A beautifully roo.
