I hatched this little guy Saturday from grocery store eggs. I believe the eggs came from Rock Island in Petaluma, California (it was a second party distributor, so I am not certain). The check was hatched from a brown egg.
I wrote to them to ask what breeds they use for their fertilized eggs but I have not heard back. The chick is, I am guessing, the product of two sex linked chickens so from what I understand sex link does not breed true in following generations.
Wondering if anybody has any ideas? If the above is true then there’s no way to know the gender of this chick by the coloring, though this one definitely has rooster attitude!
Curious about what breed this chick might be!

If this chick is a red sex-link, it is likely male.
I believe this chick is male based on his attitude! But if you have two sex links together you can’t count on the offspring being sex linked as the quality does not breed true in following generations. Believe me I read up on it after this! But thank you for your reply I do appreciate it.:)

It’s probably a male sex link, what brand of eggs were they?
Well it would be the product of two sex links right? Because the hen that laid the egg, if it was a sex link, would be first generation, original product of the two individual breeds that made up the sex link. Then this little chick would be second generation. The sex link trait does not breed true in the next generations. I’m not 100% sure of the brand but I believe they came from Rock Island in Petaluma, California. I wasn’t so curious whether it was a male or a female, I was more curious about the breed.
Thanks😊

Oh yea, your right. I would wait till it’s a little older to tell gender, but probably red sex link.
