My hen hatched out eggs that I was told were purebred Buff Orpington—only one egg hatched and this lovely large brown and white hen joined my flock. She looks like a Wyandotte to me, but with heavily feathered legs? Thoughts?

Hi, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

Pretty barnyard cross... definitely NOT a pure breed Orp.

Even if you are okay with the outcome... I would let the seller (or giver) know they are peddling something else and not what they claim. :)

white brahama.
Probably not white... according to what LITTLE genetics I understand.

Always fun to play the guessing game! :pop

I knew as soon as she started to feather that she wasn’t BO. The guy got out of chickens, so I don’t think there’s much to be done. She’s a nice addition to my flock though, and a great layer, so I’m not too upset :)
