I'm new to bantams. Used to plymouth white rock and rhode islands. So I just assumed it would be blue

Blue does not breed true.

blue x blue = 25% black, 50% blue, 25% splash
blue x black = 50% blue, 50% black
blue x splash = 50% blue, 50% splash

splash x black = 100% blue
splash x splash = 100% splash
