Hello awesome chicken people!
So, here’s the story: Got a text from my friend that she ran into some people in town who had this chick with them. According to them, the mama and all the other babies were hit by a car
hit) and this one was left. Being a Chicken Mama, I drove down to pick her/him up. In the old village part of town, people have been dropping off roosters for years (the roos are like local celebrities and everyone loves them). I have seen a hen amongst them in the past, so it IS possible one of them hatched out some babies. Anyway, I later told my sister and - believer in the goodness of humanity that she is
- she doesn’t buy it. She’s convinced someone bought her/him for Easter and just doesn’t want her/him anymore.
SO, back to my question ... My first thought was Barred Rock, but upon further research/inspection, I’m thinking MAYBE Cuckoo Marans? If my sister is right (and the people just didn’t want the chick), then Cuckoo Marans would make sense (they said they had the chick for two days. I picked it up yesterday - Tuesday - and the local feed store list said they had Cuckoo Marans come in on Saturday (the day before Easter)). It could also be a mutt from the chickens in the Village.
Now I ask the experts: what do you all think? I’ve attached lots of pictures. Thanks!!
