My 19 week old EE just laid me a blue egg today. How is the temperment of your rooster thus far?

He's doing great.nice to the girls.but doesn't want us to hold or touch him. He protects the girls also. Doesn't crow all day long like other roosters do.

That's wonderful to hear. I read Easter Eggers are more easy going and less aggressive compared to some breeds. I'm not sure how true it is. Enjoy your beautiful rooster.

Thank you. I really want to get a hen that lays green eggs also. I like the dark green eggs. I read if I let him breed with my welsummer it will be a dark green egg layers that he creates.

You might get dark green layers. He's an Easter Egger, so he might only have one blue egg gene instead of two like a pure Ameraucana would. That would lower the odds of his chicks inheriting a blue egg gene to about 50/50. There are no guarantees with Easter Eggers.
