We recently got our first two chickens; rehomed from someone whose city ordinances do not allow. The one I have figured out is a Golden Laced Wyandotte, but I am not sure about the other.

They are both approx 5 mos old and about the same size. The black one has a green tinge to the feathers on the back and yesterday I noticed kind of a red tinge to the feathers on the neck. You can see it a bit in the second photo.

Any ideas? I was thinking possibly Australorp?

gold laced Wyandotte and black sex link, both pullets.

You are correct about the one on the left being a Gold Laced Wyandotte. The one on the right looks like a Black Sex Link pullet and it looks like she will start laying soon if she isn't already!

How can you tell that they will start laying? I'm interested to learn.
FYI: both of them were laying for 7-10 days before they were re-homed. Since then one has laid an egg but I'm not sure which. These both lay brown eggs, yes?

I usually look at the comb size. A week or so before they start laying a pullet's comb with grow significantly larger and more red. When chickens are re-homed they often stop laying for a week or two when they begin to get used to their new home. Both Wyandottes and Black Sex Links lay brown eggs. :)
