What Breed is this?

Wow thanks for all the help. This 5 month old came with several Lavender Ameraucana's. The breeder mentioned she thought this one was a Araucana which obviously isn't. Now that you've mentioned it the pea comb & green legs pretty much seals the deal on she being an EE.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression all pure bred Lavender Ameraucana's & Blue Ameraucan's (which I have several) all have beards & EE are not Ameraucana's although most sellers identify them as such.

All purebred Lavender and blue Ameraucanas are actual Ameraucanas. If the Amer is sold as one of the accepted colors and if the description of the bird doesn't say stuff like "not show quality" or "lays green and blue eggs" then it is usually an actual ameraucana. The fake Ameraucanas are the easter eggers, they are hybrids that are usually part Ameraucana and they can appear greatly different from one another, although most do have Beards and muffs not all do. EEs can also come in any color and have no standard. You will know you are buying a real Ameraucana if it says a specific color like Black or Blue and if it says "lays blue eggs." Also, real ameraucanas are expensive, usually $20+ per chick, EEs are cheap, usually $3 per chick. EEs do not need a beard or muffs or anything, they do not have a standard and they are not an actual breed of chicken. Ameraucanas do have beards and muffs and blue legs and blue eggs, along with a lot of other stuff, the Ameraucana is an actual breed with standards that it is bred to. Most hatcheries do have EEs and sell them as Ameraucanas. Not that many hatcheries have actual Ameraucanas. If your Ameraucana was sold as a Lavender Ameraucana and you got it and it was lavender, it had Muffs and a beard, and it laid blue eggs then it is most likely a true Ameraucana.

Thank you Kessel23 for the excellent description! Yes I am very familiar with the Lavender & Blue Ameraucana’s. The latter recognized by the National Poultry Association I think because they breed true. In other words it doesn’t matter whether the parents are Black, Blue or Splash the offspring remain the same w/o leakage.

Here are a couple of pix I just took. The all black mixed in with the Blue’s are Ayam Cemanis. There are six. The one large black is a Blue Ameraucana. They are all around 4 month’s old. I have another pen with the same amount of Cemanis & Blues that are about 2 months old. I absolutely love these birds.

The Lavender’s are 5 month’s old.
