Alright, are you ready?

She represented them as Seramas. Im seriously such a dumb-A$$. I have a feeling that I'm sunk and I doubt I'll hear from her again after I told her today that I know for a fact they are not "pure" - they very well may be mixed, but they are NOT pure by any means. I know better! I dont know what I was thinking.....There ARE three in this batch that look very Serama-ish, color, feather, type, etc. I dont know if I just focused on these few and thought that she might have different color combos than I have EVER had in my breedings.....but here I am. Stuck with who-knows-what and hoping I'll get my money back, or I'll be trying to craigslist mutt chickens to recover some of my money.

I know, it makes me madder than heck too. Thing is, this sort of thing has NEVER happened to me, and I normally inspect all chicks and look them over real good, but for whatever reason, I didnt and just transferred from her box to my kennel and that was it.

I texted her today, and she responded stating that she hasnt ever had anyone else say her birds arent pure....and that if I wanted I could bring them back and "drop them off", no mention if she would give me my money back. I did respond saying I'd love to bring them back and make the exchange with her, since I needed my money back from them to repurchase some other Seramas from a known breeder. I also emailed her when I got home and reiterated what I said and also told her that I understood this could be a mistake (ie another hen laying in the same nest, etc et).

I'm trying not to be too upset about this...but it's totally clear they are not Seramas and the right thing to do would be to take the birds back and refund. I'm hoping she does the right thing. I'll keep yall posted. I do have her correct phone number, msn email and physical address where I picked up the chicks....

kb- good luck with getting it all straight. I was going to guess that it is a silkie X dark cornish. Serema?!?!?! I have never seen one live, but just from pictures I had to laugh. No Way! That is almost funny. I hope she doesn't get all indignant with you over it. She must not sell her birds to other people who know anything about chickens if she hasn't had any complaints with that type of thing you got there. It is cute though.

OMG!!! Good luck with getting your money back. There is NO WAY that is a Serama. I have to agree with everyone else... Silkie cross! Geesh, the nerve of some people....

Seramas are 'mutt' chickens, too, in their own right-- heck, just about every recognized breed is.
That mutt looks pretty interesting in her own right. But so OBVIOUSLY not a serama. This makes me wonder, though, if someone has worked on making a booted Serama. Because that would be awesome.

For reference, my Seramas as day-old chicks with a runt standard Partridge cochin. They are Penciled Partridge and Cuckoo Patridge colours as adults.

Thing is, I've been raising Seramas for several years now and I know what their offspring look like! I dont know what I was thinking allowing this girl to swindle me. Although I'm not sure if she did it on purpose or not - but as of today, I have not heard back from her about me taking the chicks back for a refund. Funny, she was very communicative prior to my purchase. *sigh* I guess I better put these guys out on Craigslist before they get much bigger.
