My list would be
- Belgian Bearded D'anvers
- polish (beautiful, mine have been a little flighty but that's just because of their restricted eyesight)
- Silkies (sweet, easy to handle)
- bantam cochin (have the nice demeanor of the standard size but easy to handle)

I'm biased on the silkie side, my silkie rooster (the one in my avatar) was super sweet. Gotta love silkies with their blue/black skin, five toes, and soft feathers. He lived through the polar vortex that we had last year (or was that two years ago?) Here it was about -30 degrees farenheit. Contrary to what most people say, he was not dumb. He knew how to get up on the roost and that water was for drinking. He was not hatchery stock.
