What breed of cat is this?

Is this a particular breed of cat or mix of breeds? Also, does this color have a special name, and if he is purebred can you tell me anything about his breed in general? My dog lost her pet cat, so we're looking at adopting her a new friend and I think this guy might be the one. Thanks!

Looks like a siamese or himalaya mix. I've got a black barn cat that every litter has one or two that look like him.
