True - some don’t inherit the blue gene but still come from said cross.
But if someone sells you an EE and it doesn’t resemble one, PLUS doesn’t lay blue/green, it’s likely not an EE - not referring to you two, just saying overall.

Yup. Probably just a barnyard mix. I had this exact circumstance happen earlier this year. I was sold EE chicks but they don't resemble EEs and lay brown eggs, they ended up being mixes.... NO COLORED EGGS FOR EMMA!!! Sorry.... I'm just still very salty about it.....

She's doing alright. Still got a teeny tiny pale little comb. I think she is around 5-6 months so we are getting there. She is my last hope at getting a colored egg, I can only hope . Ever since Scary decided not to inherit the blue egg gene from her legbar mixed father.

Blue eggs are so pretty...when Vanilla laid her first T-I-N-Y egg, I hollowed it out and kept it in a little hand-painted box on my shelf.
It isn’t much bigger than a robin’s egg. Similar color, too. Maybe a touch more blue and a bit paler.

Funny enough both of my non-coloured egg laying EE's were from hatcheries (which usually are good enough for coloured eggs of some sort) but the EE's I have that DO lay coloured eggs are WAY more "barnyard mix" ahaha, ones a Rhode Island/EE mix with no beard at all, but lays a really nice teal/greenish egg, you would never think of her to do that though haha

Aw that's so sweet! I did the same with my little frizzles first egg, it was so TINY, I could never just throw it away.
