What breed or mixes is my cockerel?

He’s a little over 4 months old. Bought some hatching eggs for my broody I believe he’s some kind of mix breed. I don’t think he’s barred rock because he hatched from a blue egg. Any ideas??

He looks like a mix of BR, because of the single comb and the barred feathers. Could possibly be all BR, don't quote me on that, however. The egg has me stumped, though.

Yes, He is a barred plymouth Rock rooster. Handsome fellow, he is.

Definitely not a pure Barred Rock, especially coming from a blue egg. To have a comb and wattle like that, with yellow legs, it is probably a few generations removed from the original blue egg parent. A few different breeds lay blue eggs and many breeds have the barring pattern as well. All told, you have a nice, healthy cross-bred cockerel of unknown origins!

I second the possibility of a Cream Legbar mix, if he came from a blue egg. He has some CL appearance.

But as barring is dominant, and there could be a lot of possibilities to get you there, nothing is certain.

Pretty boy no matter what his heritage is.

Cream legbar is a possibility! I was wondering where the tan coloring was coming from that seems sporadic right now. I assume at 4 months old he doesn’t have all his feathers grown in yet. Thanks for the help, the baring with the tan coloring, and hatching from a blue egg had me really confused!
