He is 5-6 months old. All other roos are long crowing and trying to mate. Have a few mm spurs, and long tails. This guy was the size of a 1kg bag of flour by the time he was a month or less old. But he is so timid and acts like a chicken still. Just wondering so i can decide if i keep him or try to give him away. If that is a breed well known to be calm and non aggressive then I can keep him. He still jumps like a little baby bird although he is the biggest.

He's a handsome boy, if you don't have other roosters or have the space for multiple roosters I would go off the roosters behavior, not based on breed. Think about dog breeds, not all Poodles, German Shepherds etc. behave the same.

Thanks for that. I know but i had a rooster that i hand raised and he was so calm and nice but when he hit 1 year mark then he turned into and agressive and possessive rooster who then tried to attack my son. Other roosters that have been that way, i managed to show then their place but that one did not take. Id like to get rid of roosters as much as possible because of that. And we have a bad situation 8 roos per 8 chickens so I have to. But i know some breeds are more dominant like pekin bantams. Its like they have a napoleon complex. 🤣 I just want to know because i get attached and if i keep him any longer then i will have a very hard time getting rid of him. Its sort of preparing my mind if they are well known to be aggressive then i can prepare myself mentally.

I'm dealing with a similar situation. I have two 16 week old cockerels that get along great. I assume since they hatched together the pecking order was established early. I got a batch of 16 RIR chicks to split between the two boys.

Now I have:
2 - 16 week old pullets (barnyard mixes)
2 - 16 week old cockerels (barnyard mixes)
10 - 9 week old cockerels (RIR):he
6 - 9 week old pullets (RIR)

Oh no! 😩. Its always like that for us.. i don’t know why ….
