hi, ive done the high egg production thing with red stars and black australorps. plenty of large size brown eggs that any one would need. so what say the masses?, on my next flock?

I've been looking at different breeds myself. I love my BA. She's awesome. I would like to get more. Besides her I have a buttercup/game hen mix (my Favorite, she's so sweet), and a BR, and an EE, and a RIR, and a few more mixes. I would love to get a Buff orpington and a Blue Orpington. I'm not in it for the eggs. I like birds. Hope others can give you their ideas. I'll keep watching to see what others say too.

I'd get some EE's. Very nice birds and lay colorful eggs

thanks guys, you know i was looking at ee's. when i first got my chicks, they gave me an exstra mystery chick. it ended up being a rumpless americana and he was beutyfull. i guess he was a silver duck wing

I love my BAs.

and my banties are the "house" chickens, coming on to the carport to entertain me. BUT, my BAs will not range out. I'm thinking in the spring I will incorporate a few Buckeyes into the flock.

You may like some standard cochins, I have a trio and they are very sweet and comical to watch, especially when they run with their poofy feathered legs. Here's a picture of my blue/black cochins at 11 weeks. They are MUCH larger and poofier now, look like balls of fluffy feathers.

I'm really liking my blue ameraucanas, and black langshans, both are very pretty birds. The langshans especially are very stately. The breeders has a 28" 1.5 y/o roo, he was gorgeous.
