What Breed Should I Get?

Correct! The USPS internal regulations state that packages containing life poultry must be prioritized. And there are many hatcheries that won't send out live birds during critical periods of time, like in the Thanksgiving week or around Christmas to avoid mishaps due to the higher volume of packages. I thought Metzer was one of them. 🤔
I know when I was selling chicks and poults, I always planned my hatches for Saturday night or Sunday morning. That way I could ship them on Monday or Tuesday.

Of course, being special I even drove them 25 miles to a larger post office so they could go out at noon and not 5:30, because my little post office only has one pick up. And the time can’t be trusted.

Remember: MPC is not a hatchery! - I call these companies »shipping agents«. They don hatch any of "their" poultry, they only forward your order to a hatchery. If you place the same order twice with MPC you may get birds from different sources.
This is true of many hatcheries.

I tried, to get hooked up with a hatchery, a few years ago. I wanted to sell Cream and White legbars. I had thought I could do 300 chicks a week.

I guess they didn’t think that was enough. I never heard from them again.

But, I am guessing when you get young terrorist they come from someplace like mine. Where the “Farmer” has the equipment to hatch so many ducks at a time.

They probably are not as careful with their shipping as they should be.

My one experience hatching dux was ugly. They didn’t hatch when they were suppose too. They died in the shells, it was ugly.

However, before you all start in on me about hatching dux, I did not know I was hatching dux. Someone, who I will not name to protect @shawluvsbirds from being ridiculed for being the evil person she is, sent me the eggs under false pretenses. They were suppose to be dux colored chicken eggs.

I was innocent and trusting.

Maybe for the next batch of ducklings in the future you could name one Kiwi if you’re doing fruits.
I actually considered that - it's a cute name! But my son said "But there's already a bird called a kiwi." I don't really care about that myself, but I am trying to get the men in my life (son and hubby) invested a little - ESPECIALLY since I have to take off for a weekend later this month, and they will be stuck taking care of the little darlings!

Good strategy!!

Translates to: You will leave your hubby and your son in the care of the ducklings! Are you sure they both like meal-worm sufflet? :lau
