What Breed Should I Get?

I have(1 of each) a barred rock,a new Hampshire red ,a red sex link,a buff Orpington, a white brahama , a astrolap, a silver laced Wyandotte, & a Americana, they are all on my profile pic . What breeds do you have
I have 1 each Barred Rock, Buff Brahma, Buff Orpington, Welsummer, Red Sexlink, White Cochin, Silver Sebright (my one rooster), and 2 Silkies (one black one splash).

I had to go to my laptop to see your profile pic - it's too tiny on my phone. Such a pretty flock!!!!

They are so cute! I know this post wasn't directed towards me, but I have a Barred Rock, a Light Brahma, two Easter Eggers, two Silver Leghorns, a Cinnamon Queen, a Rhode Island Red, a Sapphire Gem, a Red Laced Wyandotte, and a Salmon Favorelle.
So cool I have new herd of cinnamon queens or sapphire jens ! I am gonna look at some pictures cause they sound beautiful ♥️

I want a Sapphire! So beautiful! I love blues! And Easter Eggers are super cure AND give fun eggs!

I'm sure they didn't! Shavings taste awful (try one!). They tried them and spat them out, i'm sure!
Ducklings try to eat everything! Their bills are their fingers with which they explore their world and they learn quickly what is edible and what's not.
I meant to respond to this sooner. I've been a lil occupied with duckies!

The Welsh was definitely eating the smaller pieces she could find. I took the shavings out. I'll try again next week, maybe. No impacted babies!

When you do try again let them try to eat the shavings . It sounds weird but it’s how they figure out what it is sense they don’t have hands . My ducklings and chickens did the same thing stopped by the end of the day. Good luck little ducks ! ~Cassie :wee

Good advice. I'll give it a go sooner then. I'd really rather do shavings. Hides all the poop better! I'll put the puppy pads under it, though. So easy to clean (so far).

Duckie update:

All is going well so far! They are energetic for a bit, then they take a nap, then they all wake up and repeat the process.

Clementine (black Swedish) is the most active and climbs on everything. She is already zooming in the tub, too. Figgy (runner) is noisy. Marmalade (Welsh) is the smallest and cuddliest. Peanut (Saxony) is really calm and quiet. It'll be fun to see how they grow. Looking forward to it!

The trough brooder thing is working great for now - very easy to clean. The pan with the cooling rack is also working great, but I'll need to get a bigger one soon. I put the trough on a furniture mover (the square wooden thing with wheels). SO glad I did! I just bring them with me all over the house so I can keep an eye on them. I clean out the trough when they are swimming - I just bring the whole thing into the bathroom. Takes just a few minutes (because they are still so tiny). When they get older and the mess gets bigger, I'll probably have to put them in a cage while I clean. But for now, the system works well!

I am using the lid for a plastic container for food right now (unmedicated chock starter with nutritional yeast added) and a cream cheese tub with holes in the lid for water. I also gave them an old guinea pig cave. Under that is a heating pad that has no auto off set to high (93°). Sometimes they sleep in the cave, sometimes not. I am just assuming they'd go into the heating pad if they get cold. I had a mama heating pad made into a cave for them, but they slept next to it and never under, so I think it was maybe too warm. Regardless, they seem to be thriving.

Maybe I spoke too soon.

My 4755853rd noob question: I noticed tonight that Peanut (Saxony) sits down more than the others. Is it because she's just chillin' or do I need to increase the yeast? I add enough to their feed to be 55mg of niacin for 2 lbs of feed. Is that enough? Is it too much? Should I add a little more just in case?

Thank you all SO MUCH for your encouragement, help, and patience!!!

You're so very welcome, I wasn’t sure all my encouragement for you to do the right thing was being heard.

The. Anti-dux federation welcomes your efforts and help. :lau :lau
