What Breed Should I Get?

I think you said you are going with runners? We have welshies, a cayuga, runners, swedish and buffs. Our runners are the friendliest and have the most personality of our flock. My fawn and whites are like little cats. The sit on my lap, snuggle and take naps. In my opinion, runners are THE best šŸ‘šŸ»

Planning the temporary duck house "wing" of the coop. I am planning to build a brand new coop soon, but not until after they get here, I don't think. I'm building a chicken/duck house and a llama/goat house. Or I'll buy a couple of sheds and adapt them. We'll see...

But the babies will have my gigantic rabbit cage turned brooder until that's done.

Nice! Ducks grow up way too fast! I hadn’t even started building my ducks house until they were almost full size. Once I was finished with it they were full grown.
That's what I've read. Gotta be proactive here with all these predators!

I wanted to ask: where do you get your ducks? Breeder? Do you hatch them now? Stores? Hatcheries? I'm curious. And excited. All I want to do is talk and read about ducks. And look at pictures of ducks. And watch videos of ducks.

Well when I first got my ducks I just wanted to get ducks so I got them at an L and M near me. (So a farm supply store) I haven’t had my ducks for a year quite yet but in the time I’ve had them I hatched out 3 ducklings . I’m planning on buying some more ducklings from murry McMurry hatchery this spring . So all over the place! I know exactly how you feel! I’m still like that! And when it feels like spring your gonna get duckling fever and want more!šŸ˜‚ They are wayyy sweeter than chickens! They love to cuddlešŸ’› my ducklings I hatched out loved fallowing me and cuddling while watching 4 hour movies! They were the cutest ducklings ever! Now they are a bit older and are a bit more skittish. Have any names in mind? Here are my ducks! They are soo silly🄰 0286E511-D8A0-4F55-BAD1-A10746C2FBE0.jpeg 57CD201E-B821-4BC2-B99B-17F5BD1C2D6E.jpeg 9A465566-662E-4250-BBCD-14CCAF9D39CE.jpeg 55A88BC7-8165-4DA2-BFD1-AE730726A5FA.jpeg 6CBACE3A-5A5C-47A9-B105-1901A972D7B5.jpeg

always go with themes, for some reason. My cats are artists. My dogs are literary characters. My chickens are all flowers. My goats will be verbs. I'm adopting adult llamas who already have names.

The duckies? I'm thinking either fruit or colors. Weird, I know. Fruit: Persimmon, Clementine, Fig, Mango, and Apricot are all possibilities. Colors: Scarlet, Sepia, Olive, Cyan, Sienna are all possibilities.

And there are always gem stones: Ruby, Opal, Pearl, Peridot...

Those are my big ducks Donald Daffy and Daisy. My little ducks names are Opal (Murphy), Autumn, Hazel (Emeric) Opal and Hazel are boys so I had to rename them
Great minds! We posted at the same time!

Funnily enough, my paternal grandfather's family's names were themes. His sisters were flowers and months. His brothers were gemstones and colors. My grandfather was Hazel Emerald. Everyone called him Jack.
