Looks like a Easter Egger crossed possibly with a Rhode Island Red,but chances are its a Easter Egger. Its definitely a hen. Actually now that I look at her she might be a RIR EE cross due to the yellow legs. She's probably young hen. But nice catch on your husbands part

I wish I could find chickens at the gas station.
