What Breed

Most have beards but there are a lot that don't. Seems to be more and more common to get beardless EEs from hatcheries. They both also appear to have straight combs not pea.

O wow I didn't know that.... I have 2 EE that I planned to breed they both have beards and pea combs... I have one EE that has a big comb. Always wondered why the two males have different combs.

I think it's because there is no "breed standard" since they aren't a breed. The hatcheries are more concerned with egg count so they aren't culling out birds that don't fit the traditional look of an EE. Since the hatchery is also one of the ones that purposefully misleads it's customers by labeling their EEs as "Americanas" (purposeful wrong spelling to confuse people when they clearly know the difference) they are probably less likely to care if a bird looks anything like an EE.

That's not to say I think these chicks are definitely EE. At first I was thinking the cockerel might be a Rainbow but he has greenish legs and appears to have a mini beard.
