I think it looks kind of like a silver laced Cochin
She said Orpington sounded farmiliar but I doubt itI got the chick from a local teacher who was hatching chicks in her classroom. She couldn’t remember what breed so I figured I’d find out eventually. The problem is I’m thinking it’s a rooster so we will have to figure out what to do about that. Thanks for your help. I’ll ask again once feathers are in.
no! I have seven others- I am giving her to a friend though because I want to be able to show them and I don’t know if she’s purebred or anything- plus she’s quite aggressive to the others.Do you only have this one chick? Chickens need to have other chickens for company, at least 3 in a group
I have a Cochin so I’m sure it isn’t one. Also I have seven others! She is very aggressive to the others and so I am giving her to a friend. Thanks for your help!Definitely not a cochin because it has clean legs. Cochins have feathered shanks.
I agree that it may be a cross breed. Do you know what colour egg it hatched from?
Can you get a close up of it's comb? Comb type will help narrow down the options of what it may be a little.
What makes you think it might be a rooster because I am not seeing anything to indicate that at the moment although of course there is a 50/50 chance with hatching. I'm hoping you didn't just get one chick. In my opinion, raising a lone chick is sad and maybe even cruel. They are social flock creatures and often don't do well alone.
