What Breed?

I recently came across 4 chicks, we used to feed them and the mother whenever they stopped by our front yard/Backyard.
After a while though the mother suddenly disappeared and we haven't seen her around the neighborhood, the 8 of them started running around the neighborhood like a little army chirping their heads off and after 4 days of waiting for mama to return we decided to take them in.
sadly one of the 8 disappeared and the other 3 got away though next time they stop by we'll try getting them again.
I was wondering if anyone know's what breed they are? And possibly Sex too though it's probably to early to tell.

I think they’re mixed breeds. My guess is that the mother had probably escaped someone’s backyard and has probably been mated by multiple roosters, causing mixed breed chicks. Super cute, though!

Is that a thing that really happens? That is funny. My chickens would have to travel a bit to find a rooster or two around here.

They probably are mixed breeds then, thank you!
So far they're doing well and warmed right up to my two silkie chicks, though have yet to warm up to me fully.
I'll keep this place updated on the last 3 chicks.

I don't see any obvious roosters yet. They do have crests which would narrow down the breeds that they might be. But if they were feral chickens it's hard to know what the parentage might be.

I was wondering if maybe more than 1 hen layed in a Broody nest? Are they Ferrell or maybe escaped from neighbours yard?

You'll never know, and at some point the difference becomes a little bit vague...All ferals were domestic at some point, although it may be generations ago...So if a chicken is "free ranged" and not handled, then at what point is it feral?
