Thanks, so a red star x leghorn, correct?
RSL just means "Red Sex Link." It means any of the common hybrid layers where the chicks can be sexed by color at hatch (females mostly red, males mostly white.) As they grow up, the males tend to be colored like yours is, and the females usually grow up red with white tails and bits of white in other places. The hens lay brown eggs.

Red Star is one kind of Red Sex Link. Due to how the genetics work, a Red Sex Link can never be the parent of color-sexable chicks like itself.

There are various crosses, usually with a Rhode Island Red father. Some have a Rhode Island White mother, others have a White Rock or some other breed as mother.

White Leghorn is usually not involved as either parent (because of what color genes are required to make the sex linking work: there are many sets of genes that can make a white chicken, but only some of them can be used to make color-sexable chicks.)
