what breed?

Well THANK GOODNESS! I'm having to judge fairs with 4-Hers...THAT'S a challenge telling them that their birds aren't quite up to par. It's a good learning experience...but...oh well...

Let's see.

Turkens, Wyandottes, Polish are very flighty and the crests are difficult to keep up, especially with other breeds constantly pecking at them.

Silkies would be a fun breed, but I do NOT suggest white, because it is VERY difficult to keep them clean and keep them from turning yellow.

Jersey Giants are always a favorite of mine! Australorps are good too!

I LOVE White Jersey Giants...mine never laid any eggs, but they were amazing.

mikarod

thanks i might do blue silkies then again i like buff too.
i would love to do white jersey giants but i live in the city, need a layer and i don't think i have room for a jersey giant i think my brooder may hold one for a week or two but seven or eight whoo i am going to need a bigger brooder

HAHAH! You know what I JUST thought of?

Bantam Cornish!

I mean...they are the NEASTEST little birds! I'm a fan of the Dark Cornish. I'd get hens only if I were you, but I do know of others that keep both. I'm just thinking that since you're in NY...you "might" not be allowed to have roosters. It doesn't lay well per se, but let me look around.

I didn't know that you had a small area! That opens up a whole new world of bantam possibilities! lol

i looked at it and bantam cornish and silkies are still in tho i think Wyandottes
are off i like how the silkies are very broody and good mothers
