What breeds are these chicks?

if there are other roosters around he may never crow and being low in the pecking order may also keep him from crowing

Well at least you have lots to chose from. I find a really good rooster who is nice to you and the hens sometimes hard to come by. I'd pick the best rooster and rehome the others. I find the coop calmest and most happy when there is only one rooster with a group of hens.

Yes, if he is indeed a rooster, he is gay as a jay bird.. I was thinking it deep down.. watching his feather mature.. sigh.. As long as he does not crow, he can stay. the others have to go, i am calling the lady I got them from.. How hard is it to get rid Roos?

Depends on your location, marketing and breed. Spring seems to be a better time than winter to unload roosters. If you don't want them eaten you should say so and go with your instincts. Craigslist, a pic at the local feed store, here... A few places to start. Pictures and a description of personality moves them.

A rooster will always crow eventually, sorry. But you can put them on creigslist or put adds around town or at a feed store. I hope that helps. :)

Cochins are slower to mature and more docile than a lot of breeds, that's likely why he's not crowing or mating. Come spring, hormones will flood and he'll mature.

I am still on a mission to figure out what breed this guy is, here are some more pictures hopefully this will help! ( I wish his colors would show up!)

Yep, mix. And I suspect not a first generation mix either. The genetics that are going on in this bird are wild.
