What breeds lay what color eggs?

This sight ROCKS thanks to all for your comments. Also thank you for the charts- they are full of info, nice to have as a ref. For those of you who have rainbow colored egg baskets congrats, thats what i would like to see. The pics are great as well. It looks like these breeds lay less eggs than an egg prod breeds, What would be a good number of hens to have if I wanted to get roughly a dozen eggs daily from these diff colored egg laying breeds?

A couple hens of each - Some Easter Eggers or Ameraucanas, some Welsummers or Marans, some brown egg layers (like the common egg laying breeds), some pink egg layers (Jersey Giants, Brahmas, Salmon Faverolles) some Olive Eggers, some blue layers like Araucanas, some white layers like Leghorns or Polish. So all in all, about 14 if you took two of each of those.

If you want a dozen eggs a day, I'd get 3 of each of the breeds that Ilia said, for about 21 or so birds...I have 20 hens of laying age, and right now some are moulting, so I'm only getting 8 or 9 a day, at most I've gotten 19, but only once. Usually average around 12-14 per day...

True. I have 19 hens of laying age right now and only get 12 a day, so yeah, a little more to get that even dozen.

Yeah I was thinking 3 of each myself, and btw Illia, I love your webpage. Very similar to my goals as far as egg producing and breeding. We (My wife and I) already started a week ago with our very fist chicks (red sex links) and we got some more this week ( barred rocks and Cal. White Leghorns) so I believe that we are covered with white and brown eggs. I guess my next step would be to find out where to get ourselves good quality breeds for these eggs.

I just wish I could show the blue eggs. . . But my blue layers are almost at that age though, so soon. . . Soon.

We will be selling hatching eggs in the summer and next year though.
