What breeds should I get?

Hey BYC! I’ve been trying to get chickens but I don’t know what breeds to get. I want chickens that are very sweet and lay good eggs. Any suggestions?

Barred Plymouth Rock are friendly and good egg layers I would also add Rhode Island Red too.

Easter Eggers, while not a true breed are also excellent choice.

My Orpington is my sweetest chicken, it really depends in the individual bird though, and how much you handle them when they're young too. Any label for a chick that has 'sex-link' in the name will be a really good layer.

I agree with @BleuSaphir one of my EEs (my profile picture) is the sweetest and most curious of all of my chicks. The other one is a tad bit scared, but sweet none the less. And the eggs...well, look at the top two:
