I've only seen a few bees and not a single mantis. This year seems to belong to ants and lizards in my garden. The ants are everywhere.
I have seen many ants this year as well! But as long as they’re not fire ants I’m not bothered. I love to watch them build and collect for their nests.

Lovely mantis. What is the second bug? A giant horsefly?

We had ants. Until I got my duckling. She ate most of them.

I've seen a few bees but the majority of insects here are damned wasps and Viceroy butterflies.

I've had a ton of these this year! I have to be careful where I walk, because I've been very close to stepping on some. A lot of them have probably been clobbered by the lawn mower. I try to move them either in the woods, or in my garden when I find one.
