What can I do about flies?

i switched all my feeders over to the PVC pipe feeders, it seemed that the flys were highly attracted to the spilled chicken food.... has cut flys by more than half.

The vanilla does work great. I went to my local dollar store and picked up one of the vanilla scented oil deals where you stick the sticks in the jar. Just make sure you got it where the birds cant get to it. I tried the car air freshner, worked for a few days but they lose there smell fast. Someone told me vanilla candles work good to.

I've found if the chickens can get at their droppings, flies are not a problem. I suspect they eat the pupae.

We just bought several Rescue fly traps. Love them! I have used the sticky traps up until now but they were such a pain. I am tall and I was always getting them stuck to my head whenever I was in the coop or under their patio!
