What can I feed my chicks besides chick starter?

Is the adult feed Layer with about 4% calcium content? You can find that on the label. If the percent calcium is around 1% (give or take) there is no problem feeding that to the chicks. There are a lot of warning about feeding Layer to growing chicks though, it can cause internal damage. But it’s not what is in one bite, it’s how much total calcium they eat over the course of the day and even then, it’s over a few days. It’s a cumulative effect, not an instantaneous effect. In an emergency I’d feed them the 4% Layer for a couple of days, but look through the rest of this thread and see what else you have on hand to get you through. In an emergency you don’t always have a lot of choices.

Good luck with the storm. A lot of people are praying for you.

The suggestion of cereal like cheerios is a good one, crushed and mixed with the layer feed perhaps 50:50 would drop the calcium.
Feeding hard boiled egg would be good too.
If they hatched today, they won't need to eat for a couple days anyway so you may be able to get starter by then.
