Hi! My duckling was just hatched last night but I’m not sure what’s safe to feed it. I only bought grit, not knowing that it wasn’t the actual duck feed! I read online that lettuce is fine to feed them, but I don’t know if I can feed my duckling lettuce already?

Scrambled egg, and nothing else, and go get him a proper feed. Lettuce has basically no nutrition. He needs something intended for ducklings, chicken feeds don't have enough niacin.
Do you have a heat lamp?
He needs a water dish deep enough to dip his face up to his eyes.

Do you only have the one? They really shouldn't be kept alone, especially not as babies.

Purina Flock Raiser. Manna Pro all flock. Both in crumbles. Not pellets. Try Tractor Supply or another feed store. Fresh water, a heat source that he can get too and get away from. A little stuffed animal to snuggle until you can get him a friend. Puppy per pads to start him on or an old towel. Shavings after he figures out how to eat drink and poop well. Let me know if you have more questions. It would help to know where you are located, my advice is all U.S. Centric.

Thank you!! This is my first time raising a duck and the only info I got was from the Internet. And thank you for me know about the stuffed animal since I don’t have any other ducklings. I was going to hatch two but sadly the other one wasn’t able to hatch. I am located in California

Put a mirror in with him so he can look at himself. I hear they really like that and he won't feel so lonely. Don't give him that grit. Grit is basically just rocks that is useful later on if you don't have any good dirt for him to eat in his yard.
