What can I put in the coop to help the smell ??

Elbow grease helps a lot too. Chicken poop barely smells if it is dry. Sounds like yours is putrefying from moisture. Is it wet weather where you live? Is there any way to minimize moisture at the floor level in your coop? Dry litter method just helps to dissipate the moisture and wick it away from the poop, allowing it to dry and the litter to dry in between because you don't have continual wet touching wet. Dry is your friend, moisture is your enemy.

Will do, does DE help with smell ? I'm not to worried about me having to smell it, just wouldnt imagine it would be good for the birds to !!

DE is wonderful for the smell, i use it and notice a huge difference between now and before i discovered it. If you can't find it around your area you can order it online but its super expensive. Before i found a place here that carries it i bought a 2 lb bag for $26!!!! including shipping and it sure didn't last long

What grade DE should I use ? I know there are a few different kinds, dont want to get the wrong one !!

ETA: I just mix it right in with the shavings ??

Mine isn't pellet form. More like a course sand. I don't know if it comes in pellet form though. It might.

I like the sand form because I put it everywhere......they can take dirt baths with it since I have a kiddie pool filled with dirt and I add the Stall Dry. It's good for keeping them mite and lice free.

Well, that makes more sense to be absorbable. I'll do a google for my area for dealers.

Thank you.

If you google Stall Dry and get to their website they will Email you and let you know the nearest dealer. That's how I found it. Make sure to write that it's for CHICKENS. I think there's different kinds.
