I have this big Beautiful light Brahma rooster who has developed this Brassey tint to him on most of his white feathering. I have tried giving him a good bath but that didn't help at all, What causes this and is it permanant or be corrected.

Sometimes, it's genetic. Sometimes, it's being fed a diet heavy in corn. Sometimes, it's the sun exposure. Sometimes, it's age. Hard to say exactly what it is in your boy's case.

My late great flock rooster, Hawkeye, a Barred Rock, was positively gold in the hackles from being fed a corn-only diet before I rescued him. In less than a month of a good diet, he was back to crisp black and white.

Sun, corn or milo (other feeds as well). It is permanent for those feathers, but once the bird molts and grows in new ones they should be white again. Best to limit white birds exposure to sun as much as possible.

it means that the roosters white genes are in the yellow factor

as the best white feathers comes from a silver gene in the white feather

and the chicks will have yellow white on their down
where as the silver gened white will be grey to black colored down on the chick
no yellow

as the yellow gened white birds will brass up in the sun and if fed corn as was stated

so you need to find a new blood line for the chickens to cross with and ask the person with the chickens if they get brassy
and see the adults if any are brassy

any questions email me

The OP is asking about silver columbian light brahmas not recessive white birds.

Silver birds will also yellow from sun damage.

Silver birds can also show yellow due to the presence of other such as autosomal red.
