What causes the stippling?

This is Mabel, my 2nd Barred Rock's first egg from yesterday. It has this gorgeous stippling on it, and it is a slightly raised texture. Today she laid a normal egg, same color, without the white.

My BA usually lays a medium brown egg with a few white flecks on it, but not patterned like this.

What causes this?

Wow that is really beautiful. If it is textured on the surface then I believe that is just excess calcium her system is expelling.

Oh, well maybe I'll encourage her to eat a little more oyster shell! I love it! (ok, not really).

Glad to know she has enough, anyway!
