Apparently roses.

Had to fence those off this year.

My chickens LOVE clover - we have plenty of it, so no need to plant any. They also get all scraps from the garden (except plants in the tomato family) and all my too large cukes, squash, etc. I grow pumpkins for them too. Also whatever overripe fruit falls on the ground.

Aggreed, mine love dandelion leaves! I always feed them dandelions whenevr I go down, and now when ever I am close they are always all near the edge of the run, trying to get a look at me to see what I have...

Haha~ Oh no! Now they did eat some buds off the freshly planted rose bushes in the back a few weeks ago but I'm hoping they leave them alone especially if I can distract them with some other goodies!!! Glad you fenced yours off~ I don't think that will be an option for mine so I'll hope for the best

Raw or cooked?

I believe raw is just fine. The source I read said it was a great source of protein in the winter. It said to chop it up and give it to them that way.

As a kid my dad and grandparents grew extra pumpkins and winter squash for the chickens. They'd just chuck 'em over the fence before they opened the coop. It'd split open once hitting the ground. I don't remember too much of the farm and caring for the chickens but I do remember watching those chickens attack the pumpkins. They'd have it gone before the end of the day. We're planting melons, marrows, field turnips, 'salad bars' and herbs down the chicken fence for them to enjoy through the winter.
