What chicken breed do you like the best?

I have surprise Bantams that will be hatching soon, & will need homes.

But I love how bantam look especially silkie

Are blue laced gold wyandotte good layers and are they friendly. I love how they look.

Heritage breeds are nice for showing. I have only had one wyandotte, she was a good layer, though did go broody a lot. Beautiful and friendly bird.

We got golden comets accidentally, they were labels buff Orpingtons. We have fallen in love with their personalities!!!

Are light brama was suppose to be a buff orpington so maybe they mix that breed up alot

I live in WI and winters are very cold so maybe not the best option. I have heard bantam can get cold easily

I live in Michigan, winters are similar to your area. Bantams are very winter hardy. Have had my flock for years.

Not all Silkies are Bantams. I have both bantam, & LF silkies.

The chicks that will be hatching will be mainly Old English Game Bantams, or mixes. Maybe a couple D'uccle, or D'uccle mixes too.

What is the best chickens breed. I am looking to get 2 more. But don't know what ones to get.

I have several different breeds, my australorp is my favorite. She’s very sweet and friendly not overly loud and is the prettiest too.

I highly recommend Ameraucanas or Bantam Cochins.

Ameraucanas are friendly, adorable, and lay nice blue eggs. I'm particularly fond of blue wheaten Ameraucanas, but color is up to you. You just have to be careful, you are unlikely to find them at any feedstore though. Not saying it's impossible, but most of the time you'll see feedstores selling "Ameraucanas" or as they're sometimes called "Americanas" and they are Easter Eggers, not the recognized breed. So watch out for that.


Bantam cochins are hands down the friendliest breed you will ever own. They are fluffy little pom poms, small, easy to handle, amazing temperament, however, they are extremely broody. So you have to deal with breaking broodies every other week. But it's worth it. They're just so amazing.

We’ve had lots of different kinds but our all time faves have been bantam rhode island reds. They lay lovely eggs for not much feed or mess and the hens get broody and make great moms. To top it all off they’re adorable and sweet!
