What Chicken Breed Should I Get?

so im new to chickens and planning on buying 6 chicks this sring, but im not 100% sure what breed(s) i want. if you could post what you have, recommend, etc. i would really appreaiate it.
first of all i want layers, i dont really care white or brown eggs but im leaning towards brown. id like a chicken thats friendly, i have little neighbors and family and dont want to care for mean chickens. id like a chicken that produces many eggs, and i live in New York so we get cold winters and snow so they need to be somewhat cold hardy, maybe not to noisy (not a big deal though)

i recommend old english game bantams they are small and very easy to handle and care for they are also very hardy in the cold and very good in the hot
