Easter Egger - Female
Easter Egger - Male
Barred Rock - Female
and
guinea fowl - ??

Age... couldn't tell ya for sure but they look young, probably less than a year old.

thank you for helping this super newbie!

Now the big question.. how do I get them to lay eggs????

Yes had to take the Guinea in the deal.. might just let it loose.. it's a little loud for my taste! LOL

1. Easter Egger Pullet
2. Cuckoo Maran (white legs, uneven barring) w/ Guinea in the background! LOL
3. Easter Egger Cockerel

Bigger eggs comes from genetics and with age. The older a hen gets, the fewer eggs she lays, but the larger the eggs become.

To get them to lay, well, the females anyway, they will start laying as the photoperiod (light) gets longer. Having them on a layer feed is also helpful as well as giving them free-choice oyster shell.

Thank you very much.. I have learned a great deal from this site!

Leg color is never a sure thing because even the yellow coloring will fade as the female begins laying. The hen may be old, in which case her leg color would look white. Production rocks don't have good barring anyways and often look quite cuckoo.

Anywho...

To get them to lay? Give them food, fresh water, sunshine, and time.

It'll happen eventually.

I agree Cuban, it could just be that the leg is bleached out...but with that cuckoo pattern (you know how I'm picky about barring...), it could be a production Maran?

Anyway! If it's an older hen, like I said, she won't lay as much, but judging by the lanky legs of the EE beside her, I'd guestimate she's on the younger side of the age ladder...

How long have you had them?

Yeah, I didn't consider it being a production Marans which is highly possible considering the OP obtained it along side some easter eggers. (Yes you are picky about barring!

)

Her face looks pretty red too, she'll be laying soon I think.

I just got them last night from a guy who was having predator issues and just wanted to get rid of them...not sure how long he had them or where he got them at this point. Thanks for any and all info. you guys Rock!
