What chickens would you get?

Be prepared for an amazing variety in color from Meyer! I thought that last year's McMurray pullets were varied, but all but one was a variation on partridge, with one buff.

The Meyer pullets this year are all so different! One's white with red wings. One is white and blue. One is red white and blue. One is kind of like a blue and brown partridge pattern. One looks just like a wild hawk. All are cool--but you never know what coloring you're going to get with Easter Eggers!

Buff orphingtons for thier sweetness and docile nature
Australorps for class
and Delawares for just clowning around and incessent curiosity

all good egg layers and get along well together.

Don't forget you have to give us pictures......

Anne and the girls

Barred Rocks, Black Australorps, Light Brahmas, Buff Orpingtons, and Dark Cornish. All the hens are gentle and the Cornish and Australorps are the more curious ones in our flock. The Australorps are excellent winter layers too.

My Mom is buying the chicks, and She said if I set up the brooder for them and keep them for a couple of weeks she will will give me two of each kind. I will be getting 2 Dominiques, 2 Easter Eggers, 2 Australorps and 2 buff Orpingtons.

However, this thread is making my decision very difficult!

I'm really glad I asked you guys, you have added several new breeds to my short list!

For both good temperament and winter eggs, the Plymouth Rock breed is hard to beat.
So how about just 1 breed with 3 varieties of that breed?
Maybe 3 Barred, 3 White, and 3 Buff?
That's 9 instead of 8, but a comparison of varieties within a breed
may be interesting to you...

Ok, so another question... to narrow things down

Which chickens (that are reasonably good layers with good personalities) have the most interesting eggs.

AND

What is interesting about them?
