It looks like a silkie but it could be mixed. What color will it grow up to be? It kind of looks like a paint. He is white with black spots

The person I got him from had a splash silkie not sure what the father is but could a splash have a paint baby?Welcome to BYC!
Definitely looks like it could be a paint. They often have pink toes and beak that darkens as they age, but usually it is spotted with some black and some pink at hatch. Do you know anything about the chick’s parentage?
Coloring will look very much like my avatar/profile photo.
He is about 4 days old, I’m guessing it is a he because of his attitude and looks. I’m not the best with telling from the wings but it looks like silkie feathering so farIt definitely could be pure Silkie. I see good second toe feathering. Does it have five toes on each foot? How old is this chick? It looks about 2-3 days at most. You can tell by the wings if it’s going to have smooth feathers or silkied feathers by about six days of age.![]()
Definitely looks paint. At around six days of age you can tell in the wings what type of feathers it will have. Here are some photo examples from some of my chicks. These are 6 days old in the photos:The person I got him from have silkie, satin, and frizzles. I don’t think they had a paint but they have a splash. Does he look mixed or just silkie?
No. You need dominant white to create paint. This chick definitely does not look splash. The person I got him from had a splash silkie not sure what the father is but could a splash have a paint baby?
Thank you! This helps a lot, I will check him once he starts to get his wing feathers and hopefully he is a silkie! Will he get more spots as he gets older or just what he has now?Definitely looks paint. At around six days of age you can tell in the wings what type of feathers it will have. Paints are like dalmatian puppies they don’t have much spots at first normally but develop them as they get older. It’s kind of a surprise to see how they turn out, part of the fun with Paints!Thank you! This helps a lot, I will check him once he starts to get his wing feathers and hopefully he is a silkie!
