I have a little mixed breed banty hen who hatched 10 chicks. The daddy (or shall I say "daddies") are EE roosters. What color eggs will they lay when they are grown? How old will they be when they start laying? My other chicks seemed to take forever to lay, but I got them in the fall and they were mail order chicks.

With EE's, you never know what your going to get. Blue, green, white, or brown. Depends on the genes that were passed on by the parents. Out of my 3 EE hens, I get 2 different shades of green and a VERY large white. I always use 20 weeks, give or take a few, before I start expecting eggs. These 3 particular hens were very slow to lay. I got them as chicks last summer and didnt get an egg until spring of this year!

These girls aren't quite 20 weeks yet. I think they are going to be early bloomers! I found a tiny little green egg in the nest the other day and unless one of my big hens is malfunctioning, it had to have come from one of the little girls!

I have an EE hen that lays sky blue eggs and the only rooster I had at the time was a BO and I hatched 2 of her eggs. One hen lays olive colored eggs and the other died the same day I found it's sisters first egg. They were both girls and looked like twins. I wish i still had her sister...

My litte EE is very sweet and she was 19 weeks when she lay her first tiny egg. She usually lays every other day. Egg size varies. I disappointed that the color is white. She's the only EE I have. I wonder if she hatched out a few I would get a color. The EE banty rooster is beautiful.

I think the roosters are from a mail order batch that I was told would be green egg layers. I'm just wondering if since their mother is an American Game Bantam and lays white eggs, which gene will be more dominant? The green gene or the white gene?
