Similar in color to yours. She is in the drier to fluff up.View attachment 2978353
Yours look blue to me actually. Silver Partridge is the same as Gray and you will see some penciling on the wings usually. As chicks they will also often have the classic chipmunk markings, though in silvery/gray tones instead of brown![]()
I know it’s confusing because in the chicken world grey chickens are called “blue”. Among Silkies though grey is reserved for silver Partridge colored birds.Could gray silkies also be born without the classic chipmunk markings?
I'm still doubting if my chick that has the looks of a gray, actually is a gray or a blue with silver leakage.
She was born without the chipmunk marking.
Now I’m even more confusedI know it’s confusing because in the chicken world grey chickens are called “blue”. Among Silkies though grey is reserved for silver Partridge colored birds.
Leakage in the coloring doesn’t usually appear until the birds are completely feathered in. You can’t tell this normally in the chick down.![]()
Now I’m even more confused
So my pullet looks like a silver partridge, but wasn’t born with the chipmunk marking.
But I’ve also learned that blues (almost black) with silver leakage look like silver partridges.
Because I’m pondering on where to put her, in the splash pen or my silver partridge pen.
I’ll attach a photo of her. It’s the ‘black’ one in the middle(never mind the splash
, I’ve mover her already)
looks like silver birchen (am I helping?).
Oh ok! I wondered what she would look like with normal feathersin simple words: hackle (neck) feathers in female are silver while the rest of body is some other solid colour. males have hackle, shoulder and saddle feathers silver as well.
