What color is she?

Thanks everyone! And yes, she is an ameracuana. Her parents were full ameracaunas and that would make her an ameracauna. not an ee..(:

so sorry but that is an EE ( whitch is hatcherys sell as ameracuana ) ameracuanas have been breed up and come in standerdized colors wille EEs have been breed for blue/green eggs and can bee all kinds of colors here are a few things that let us know your hen is a EE

she is not a standerized color
she has green legs

if she was an ameracuana she

would be a standerdized color
she would have black/slate legs

Hi again

so you have her parents? Did they come from a breeder or a hatchery? I don't care I love love love EEs, but alot of people are going to tell you that you can't get Americaunas from a hatchery, they just call there EEs that for what ever reason??? Like I said I don't care but alot of folks get testy about the name. She may have been bred from 2 true Americaunas that were different colors and she is just a non-standard color who knows. LOL Is she laying eggs yet? what color are they? if she lays anything other than a blue egg, (ie green, blue green), and so on shes probably is an EE. If she lays a blue egg she could very well be a Americauna, Bottom line is she is a beautiful bird, and she is yours so call her whatever you want!

The hatcheries call them americaunas but in the small print the call them Easter Eggers? For the longest time I thought my girls were Americaunas, but I was set straight by all the BYCers that raise the real deal. LOL . And for the record I still call mine (that look just like your girls) wheaton because thats what I was told that they were wheaton and for a lack of a better color name thats what they shall remain at least until someone comes up with a better name for the color anyway. No offence meant to anyone out there.

A friend of mine only has ameracaunas (: she didnt get hers from a hatchery either (: shes been breeding Ameracaunas for about 20 years (:

if you would call her color it would be more BBR then weaton and with her having green legs she is not a TRUE AMERACUANA sorry if this make you mad but if you read the standered for ameracaunas it is a DQ for not standered colors and green legs are also a DQ sorry but this is the truth

"What are Easter Egg chickens?

The Ameraucana Breeders Club defines an Easter Egg chicken or Easter Egger as any chicken that possesses the blue egg gene, but doesn’t fully meet any breed descriptions as defined in the APA and/or ABA standards. Further, even if a bird meets an Ameraucana standard breed description, but doesn’t meet a variety description or breed true at least 50% of the time it is considered an Easter Egg chicken."

Also, here are photos of all the recognized Ameraucana colors:

Your girl could very well be from two true Ameraucanas, but since she doesn't meet the standard herself she is still considered an EE. I thought mine were all Ameraucanas because that is what I was told they were. I have done a LOT of reading and research since I bought them and found that mine are EEs. I think they are very pretty and I love how they are all just slightly different so I can tell them apart.
