I agree, it just looks like a bad quality partridge. I personally think that it is very pretty, but it's just not close to the standard for partridge silkies.

How do you know what genes that the parent birds had?

Blue crossed with buff would not produce that color.

Just like @LilJoe said: Buff × Blue/Blue × Buff crossing make blue and black chicks.

Not to mention that I've seen a fair share of poor quality partridges that look quite similar to this.

Lil joe is a young lady that is learning. I guess people got that from the chicken calculator? That is a joke. I have made that cross, as have others. The bird pictured is what you get. Most likely buff male over blue female, and bird is most likely female. The other way would have silver, not gold.
