Hi, I have a post about breeding paints, and today this little guy hatched, I think he/she may be Lavender? Am I wrong?

Just looking at the chick in this photo, it doesn’t appear to be lavender to me. They have more of a gray/purple tint, even as chicks. Do both parents of this chick carry lavender? If not, then it cannot be lavender. Such an adorable baby!

Such a cutie! If they are black and white but both carry lavender, then they can have lavender chicks. I still don’t really think that this one is lavender, just based on looks. Pure lav silkies do seem to be lighter than the crosses. I can find a pic of one of my pure lav pure silkie chicks from several months back.

If the white parent is recessive white, then they can be carrying other colors/patterns that are not visible. But if that is the case, then your black parent would also be carrying something else too since black would typically be dominant over a recessive white. Do you know if the white parent is dominant white or recessive?

I believe recessive but I'm not 100% sure
