What color is this Silkie rooster? Partridge?

Hi everyone,

I just got my first silkies. Two white chicks, 3 days old and 4 adults, one black hen (I'm keeping) and 3 roos. A black and a white, which I'm housing for a friend and another rooster I'm keeping. I haven't seen any pics of silkies that he looks like. He is very pretty. What color is he? Partridge?

That is definitely not partridge. It looks like it could be cuckoo, but is lighter than the ones i have seen. i'm sure you will have the silkie experts along shortly to give you better advice.

Yep that is a cuckoo silkie.

Cuckoo. Probably pure for the barring, as roos pure for barring can be way light in color like this.

You can test this by mating him with black hens(cuckoo is just barring over black birds..) if all babies turn out cuckoos, then he's pure & sons should be "darker cuckoo" than him.

I've seen pure barred cuckoo silkie roosters which happen to be very light colored being labeled with some kinda name. can't remember what it is. IMO which is silly and just adding to the confusion of the already inconsistent term usage in the poultry hobby.
